Prophet Muhammad, as the founder of Islam, conveyed numerous prophecies recorded in the Quran and Hadiths (narrations about his words and actions). Islamic scholars and believers often interpret many of these prophecies as having been fulfilled after his passing. Here are some notable examples:

1. Expansion of Islam

Muhammad predicted that Islam would spread beyond the Arabian Peninsula to encompass vast empires:

  • Hadith: “Allah showed me the earth, and I saw its eastern and western ends. The dominion of my ummah will reach as far as I was shown.”
  • Fulfillment: In the decades following his death, the Islamic state expanded into Persia, the Levant, North Africa, and further into Asia and Europe.

2. Fall of the Persian and Byzantine Empires

Muhammad foretold the collapse of two powerful empires of his time:

  • Hadith: “Persia will fall, and after it, Byzantium.”
  • Fulfillment: The Sasanian Empire (Persia) was defeated during the caliphate of Umar (637 CE), and the Byzantine Empire lost territories like Syria, Egypt, and North Africa over time.

3. Abundance of Wealth Among Muslims

Muhammad predicted that wealth among Muslims would become so plentiful that finding someone to accept charity would become difficult:

  • Hadith: “A time will come when wealth will be so abundant that no one will accept it as charity.”
  • Fulfillment: During the caliphate of Umar ibn Abdul-Aziz (8th century), there were reports of surplus charity funds as poverty had been significantly reduced.

4. Victory at the Battle of Badr

Muhammad prophesied the outcome of the Battle of Badr (624 CE):

  • In the Quran: “And Allah had promised you one of the two groups: it was yours…” (Quran 8:7).
  • Fulfillment: Despite being outnumbered, Muslims achieved a decisive victory, marking a turning point in Islamic history.

5. Divisions and Trials Among Muslims

Muhammad foretold divisions and conflicts within the Muslim community after his death:

  • Hadith: “My ummah will split into 73 sects; only one will be on the right path.”
  • Fulfillment: Islamic history has witnessed divisions, such as the Sunni-Shia split and other theological and sectarian disagreements.

6. Construction of Tall Buildings

Muhammad predicted that Arabs, once desert nomads, would compete in building tall structures:

  • Hadith: “When you see barefoot, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings, know that the Hour is near.”
  • Fulfillment: This is often linked to modern development in cities like Dubai and Riyadh, where some of the world’s tallest buildings are located.

7. Spread of Corruption and Moral Decay

Muhammad foretold a time when deceit and corruption would become prevalent:

  • Hadith: “There will come a time when the liar will be believed, and the truthful person will be deemed a liar; when the dishonest will be trusted, and the trustworthy will be deemed dishonest.”
  • Fulfillment: Many believe this prophecy reflects contemporary societal issues globally.

8. Increased Use of Alcohol and Immorality

Muhammad predicted the widespread consumption of alcohol and moral degradation:

  • Hadith: “Among my ummah, there will appear people who drink wine but call it by another name.”
  • Fulfillment: Despite Islam’s prohibition of alcohol, its consumption and moral decline are seen in some communities today.

Islamic scholars believe many of Muhammad’s prophecies have come true over time, reinforcing faith in his wisdom and divine inspiration. These fulfilled prophecies are often cited as evidence of his authenticity as a prophet.
