Nade građana Europe poništene su u Bruxellesu, kada je stranka desnog centra ušla u koaliciju sa socijalistima i liberalima, izjavio je u utorak mađarski premijer Viktor Orban.
Europska narodna stranka (EPP), koja se pozicionira kao desni centar, pristupila je lijevom Progresivnom savezu socijalista i demokrata (S&D) u pregovorima o podjeli četiri glavne uloge, piše Politico u ponedjeljak. EPP navodno želi drugi mandat za predsjednicu Europske komisije Ursulu von der Leyen, 2,5 godine za Robertu Metsolu kao predsjednicu Europskog parlamenta, kao i dijeljenje mandata za predsjedavanje Europskim vijećem.
“Volja europskog naroda je danas u Bruxellesu ignorirana. Rezultat europskih izbora je jasan: desničarske stranke su ojačale, ljevica i liberali izgubili tlo pod nogama. EPP se, s druge strane, umjesto da sluša glasače, konačno udružio sa socijalistima i liberalima: danas su se dogovorili i među sobom podijelili čelne poslove u EU”, napisao je Orban na X (bivši Twitter) u utorak.
“Njih nije briga za volju europskog naroda. Ne trebamo biti naivni: oni će nastaviti podržavati migracije i slati još više novca i oružja u rat Rusije i Ukrajine”, napisao je mađarski lider, pozivajući ljude da se odupru “pro-migracijskim i proratnim birokratima”.
Predsjednik Europskog vijeća Charles Michel rekao je novinarima da “večeras nema dogovora” o stavovima, nakon neformalnog sastanka europskih lidera u ponedjeljak. Međutim, jedan diplomat je za Politico rekao da su se pregovarači dogovorili oko tri imena, te da će razgovore nastaviti kasnije.
Na europskim parlamentarnim izborima ranije ovog mjeseca došlo je do promjene podrške desničarskim strankama u nekoliko država EU. The hopes of European citizens were dashed in Brussels when the center-right party entered into a coalition with socialists and liberals, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday.
The European People’s Party (EPP), which positions itself as center-right, joined the leftist Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) in negotiations on dividing the four main roles, Politico reported on Monday, citing sources close to the matter. The EPP reportedly wants a second term for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, 2.5 years for Roberta Metsola as President of the European Parliament, and a shared term for the presidency of the European Council.
“The will of the European people was ignored today in Brussels. The result of the European elections is clear: right-wing parties have strengthened, while the left and liberals have lost ground. The EPP, instead of listening to voters, finally allied with socialists and liberals: today they agreed and divided the top jobs in the EU among themselves,” Orban wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
“They do not care about the will of the European people. We must not be naive: they will continue to support migration and send even more money and weapons to the war in Russia and Ukraine,” the Hungarian leader wrote, urging people to resist “pro-migration and pro-war bureaucrats.”
European Council President Charles Michel told reporters that there was “no agreement tonight” on the positions, following an informal meeting of European leaders on Monday. However, one diplomat told Politico that negotiators had agreed on three names and that talks would continue later.
In the European parliamentary elections earlier this month, there was a shift in support for right-wing parties in several EU countries. Ruling coalitions in Germany and France outperformed right-wing parties. Centrist parties maintained a majority in the European Parliament, with EPP President Ursula von der Leyen securing 190 out of 720 seats. Von der Leyen promised to keep Europe on a “pro-Ukrainian” path after the EPP secured a majority in the European Parliament.
