Croatian maestro Luka Modrić has once again shone on the pitch, etching his name into football history. Marca spared no words of praise after Modrić’s performance against Celta Vigo, where his brilliant assist sealed the victory for Real Madrid and set a new historic record – the oldest player ever to wear the royal white jersey. But that’s not all. Along with this new record, Luka also became the oldest assist provider in the club’s history, once again proving that age means nothing when it comes to quality.

“Modrić needs to be eternal,” Marca writes, observing with awe how this Croatian, at 39, continues to lead Real to victories. From the bench, Ancelotti watched as Celta made things difficult, but when all seemed lost, the solution, as it has been so many times before, was simple – Luka Modrić. He enters the game, brings calm and control, and with a brilliant pass to Vinicius, creates the winning goal.

“Modrić pulled Real out of the tunnel,” highlights the match report. Marca stresses that Modrić has proven to be irreplaceable, even on the verge of turning 40, with 250 victories in La Liga. His presence on the field is key to Real’s success this season.

This Croatian, who has played over 200 matches for Real after turning 35, continues to dictate play at the highest level. Marca concludes: “Real plays as much as Modrić allows them to.” Hence, it’s no surprise there’s a call to extend his contract because, as Marca puts it, “Modrić is eternal, and Real needs him.”
