MOSTAR, October 31 (FENA) – By laying wreaths and lighting candles at the monument to Croatian defenders in front of the Croatian Home of Duke Stjepan Kosača in Mostar, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day were commemorated.

Wreaths were laid and candles lit at the memorial to Croatian defenders in front of the Croatian Home of Duke Stjepan Kosača in Mostar, marking the celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

As reported by Fena, delegations from the Armed Forces of BiH, the Ministry of Defense of BiH, the Croatian National Assembly of BiH, and representatives of veterans’ associations laid the wreaths.

“These days, across the cemeteries of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we want to be close to those who have given us the most valuable thing so that we can today cherish what we have — equality and constitutiveness,” said the president of the Croatian National Assembly of BiH, Dragan Čović, on this occasion.

On the first day of November, Catholics around the world celebrate All Saints’ Day, a holiday dedicated to the saints canonized by the Church, as well as to those who have not been officially proclaimed saints but have achieved the ideal of a Christian life through their deeds.

All Souls’ Day is commemorated on November 2nd, expressing Christian hope and faith in the afterlife. On All Souls’ Day, believers visit cemeteries, pray for the souls of the departed, light candles, and attend holy masses.

The Ministry of Defense of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH, through the lighting of candles and laying of wreaths at the memorials to fallen and missing Croatian defenders across Bosnia and Herzegovina, traditionally mark All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day./HMS/
