The president of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH), Dragan Čović, extended congratulations on the occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day, emphasizing the importance of preserving stability and equality for all peoples in the country.

“As we celebrate Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day today, we reaffirm our commitment to building a European homeland, a homeland where the rights of all three constituent peoples will be fully and permanently respected. It is the duty of all of us to safeguard stability and foster the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated Čović in his congratulatory message.

Why is November 25 Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day?

November 25 marks Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day, commemorating the historic First Session of the State Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH), held in Mrkonjić Grad in 1943. At this session, Bosnia and Herzegovina was reaffirmed as an equal entity within Yugoslavia, emphasizing its historical borders and multiethnic unity. This day is celebrated as a symbol of sovereignty, coexistence, and the foundational principles of equality among its peoples.
