Spanish media have reported that Ante Budimir is a transfer target of Xabi Alonso, the newly appointed Real Madrid manager, and speculation about a potential move is ongoing.
Alonso recently commented on the type of striker he’s looking for:
“Signing a player like Joselu? It’s important to have someone like that in the squad. Gonzalo Garcia did a good job against Al Hilal. We’ll see what the future holds. Right now, our focus is on the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Osasuna reportedly won’t let Budimir leave for less than the release clause stated in his contract, which is €8 million.
If he joins Real Madrid, Budimir would not be part of the starting eleven but would play a backup role from the bench. According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Real Madrid have offered the Croatian international a one-year deal worth €3 million, and Budimir is said to have no objections to a reduced playing time.
This season, Budimir has scored 21 goals and provided three assists in La Liga. He has also added three goals in the Copa del Rey.
